Shelley was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma and her family moved to Nebraska when she was a teenager. She graduated from high school in Omaha, Nebraska. After high school, she attended Metro Tech Community College and The University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Shelley worked in the accounting department of the Investment Division at Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company for 12 years. She then became a stay-at-home mom when she and her husband had their first child.
Shelley considers herself blessed to be a stay-at-home mom for 12 years to raise their four children (three sons Tyler, Zach, and Nick, and one daughter, Morgan). Shelley and her husband enjoy supporting and attending all the sporting events and activities in which their four children were/are involved because “they are our world.”
In 2007, Shelley began working as a Special Education Assistant in an elementary school. Shelley expressed, “I am so thankful for this chapter of my life. I cannot imagine not having had the chance to work with these very special children/students. My life is better because of knowing them.”
In 2017, Shelley was offered an amazing opportunity to come back into the accounting field, working at Watson & Carroll, heading up our accounting department.
When she’s not working, Shelley and her husband enjoy spending time outdoors, attending many local outdoor concerts, farmer’s markets, craft fairs and visiting local wineries. They are avid Nebraska Husker football fans, although Shelley is still an avid OU Sooners football fan (she insists she can be both)!
Sara was born and raised in north Iowa, and in high school, she moved with her family to Hastings, Nebraska. Sara graduated from Hastings High School in Hastings, Nebraska, and went on to receive a Bachelor of Psychology from Hastings College. On graduation, Sara moved to Omaha, Nebraska, and spent three years working with individuals undergoing therapy for brain and spinal cord injuries.
In 2007, Sara moved to Denver, Colorado, to attend graduate school at Argosy University, and four years later obtained her Master’s in Management and Organizational Development. While in graduate school, Sara worked in an inpatient treatment facility with children who were abused and neglected. In 2010, Sara began working in an acute rehabilitation hospital, again assisting patients who experienced brain and spinal cord injuries.
In 2017, Sara started her career in social work as a case manager for children (ages zero to three) with developmental delays and disabilities. Sara’s primary role was to assist these children and their families in obtaining the support and services necessary for continued growth and development. Sara feels that this experience, in particular, has shaped her own personal and professional growth and development, and instilled in her the desire to help people not only get what they need but also to strive for more. Also in 2017, Sara found herself moving back to Omaha to be near family. In 2018, she joined the Watson & Carroll team, which affords her the chance to help others and be home every night and weekend with her beautiful daughter, Emree.
Sara always sees the best in people and is wise in being able to see the “big picture,” which is invaluable in working with clients who have suffered medical malpractice and may feel that all is lost. Sara’s passion for helping others has continually brought her back to jobs that help people find their own self-dignity. She cannot imagine a career where she is not assisting in transforming someone’s life for the better.
When Sara is not working, she is enjoying the outdoors by hiking, snowboarding, participating in triathlons, or lounging by a pool, and, when she’s lucky, the ocean. In good years and in bad, she cheers for the Denver Broncos. What Sara enjoys most, however, is spending time with friends and family, and playing with Emree, who she describes as “sassy,” and the office describes as “hilarious.”
